Berlin’s annual Popkomm music industry conference partners with a new country each year, and this year Turkey will be in the limelight.
There will be thirteen acts playing from the Balkan nation, as well as two panels on the Turkish music market and forty five exhibitors at the trade show.President of MESAM, Ali Riza Binboga, representing one of the four Turkish copyright collection societies, said “Popkomm provides the ideal opportunity for presenting all the different facets of the multicultural musical landscape of Turkey to a wider public”. Ali Riza T??rker, Secretary General of MÜYORBIR, added “Popkomm is the event at which the splendour and the status of Turkish music can be experienced. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy it.”
Popkomm will also showcase artists and exhibitors from all over Europe and speakers include Robin Gibb of the Bee-Gees and Klaus Voorman.
Bands from all over the world will strut their stuff around the German capital in clubs filled with both music fans and industry people from the four corners of the globe.
Popkomm begins on Wednesday, October 8 and runs for three nights, plus the fairly new addition of the Popkomm DJ night, which showcases Berlin’s dance heritage. Last year it was headlined by the face of German dance music, Paul Van Dyk.
