Sparks members Ron and Russell Mael are furious that their new single 'Dick Around' has been banned by the BBC.
In a statement, Ron Mael says "The BBC has officially killed off our new single 'Dick Around', ostensibly through rather childish objections to the title, an innocent reference to the idle life".He went on to say "that a piece of music can be condemned purely by its title without the decision makers even having the decency to open the CD case is a travesty and insult to both of us".
Sparks were invited into the studio by presenter Jonathon Coleman who could talk to the stars but not play their song.
"The reaction from the public to this record has been nothing but positive so the BBC should stop trying to be the morality police" Russell Mael said.
