John Mellencamp has posted his own version of `The Times They Are A Changin`` at his website.
Mellencamp is offering the 40-year old song to his fans because it reflects now what Dylan was singing about more than years ago when the song was first released in the time of JFK.“This veritable battle-cry for a generation (“Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call”) has never seemed so timely as now,” it says at mellencamp.com.
John has covered Dylan before. Who hasn`t? He sang `Like A Rolling Stone` on his 1988 tour and performed `Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat` at Bobfest, the 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration at Madison Square Garden in 1992.
On his MTV Unplugged session, John sang `All Along The Watchtower` and performed `Highway 61 Revisited` at Sessions @ AOL in 2003.
Check out his `Rough Harvest` album. That had a cover of `Farewell Angelina`.
John`s other Bob moment was when he directed the video `Political World` for Dylan.
