Cee-Lo Green, the vocal half of 2006 sensations Gnarls Barkley, is set to release a "best of" solo album.
While Green was heard muttering earlier this year that he resented the success of Gnarls Barkley because it has stymied his other projects, at least he can get some recognition for his earlier works. Green has recently been working on the Lovestink/The Heart Attack project (featuring Jack Splash of Plantlife) and has scored a song on the 'Snakes On A Plane' soundtrack, but 'Closet Freak: The Best of Cee-Lo Green the Soul Machine' will delve further back into his career. The album is mooted for an October 31 release and will feature 18 tracks from his two solo albums (2002's 'Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections' and 2004's 'Cee-Lo Green... Is The Soul Machine') as well as his work in pioneering Atlanta hip-hop crew Goodie Mob and assorted collaborations with Timbaland, Pharrell, Ludacris, Jazze Pha, T.I. and his guest slot with Outkast.
Cee-Lo's 'Happy Hour' collaboration with producer Jazze Pha was shelved in 2005 but following the success of Gnarls, we can expect a release of that one too.
