Paul Weller will guest on the next album for former The Love Affair frontman Steve Ellis.
The Love Machine were best known for the 60s track ‘Everlasting Love’ from 1968.The song has been covered many times over the years. It was a hit in Australia for Doug Parkinson in 1974 and for U2 in 1989.
Weller will appear on Ellis’ ‘Best of Days’ album on Ellis’ version of Weller’s ‘Brand New Start’.
Weller cites The Love Affair as one of his major influences.
The Love Affair had a short career. They were only around between 1966 and 1969 and really only had that one hit.
Ellis went on to front Widowmaker in the 70s but never again tasted the success brought on by the one big hit.
In 1981, he suffered a horrific accident and withdrew from the music industry.
It was Weller who resurrected his career in 1998 when he brought him out of hibernation for the charity single ‘Step Inside Love’.
Steve has been playing recently in a revised version of the 60s band Amen Corner.
