The Doors Close On Manzarek and Krieger

Doors` founders Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger have been stopped from The Doors name again.

The California Supreme Court has issued a ruling stopping Manzarek and Krieger from promoting their band with any name that includes ‘Doors’.

The pair can no longer tour as The Doors of the 21st Century and cannot use any likeness to Jim Morrison in their promotion.

Manzarek and Kreiger’s troubles started when they dumped original member John Densmore from their touring line-up. Densmore aligned with the family of Jim Morrison to take action against the two remaining members, claiming that their continuation in any form using The Doors name watered down the legacy of the band.

In an interesting turn of events, the California Supreme Court agreed.

Manzarek and Krieger have been ordered to pay damages and costs estimated at $5 million for Densmore and Morrison family for using images of the original band during their tours that have grossed more than $8 million.

Manzarek and Krieger no longer tour as The Doors of the 21st Century. You will find them listed in your gig guide as Riders On The Storm, a reference to another great Doors song (but legal).
