Members of the Malaysian Islamic opposition party have insisted that an upcoming concert from Avril Lavigne be cancelled due to the singer’s moves being deemed “too sexy.”
Kamarulzaman Mohamad, from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said, “It is considered too sexy for us... It’s not good for viewers in Malaysia. We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models.”Lavigne is due to kick off an Asian tour in Kuala Lumpur on August 29, however, permission for the concert is yet to be granted by the country’s Culture Ministry.
A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday (August 19) to make a decision on whether the concert can proceed and to consider any protests that have been lodged.
