British songstress PJ Harvey will honour radio legend John Peel with a compilation of songs she recorded in the BBC studio for his famous Peel Sessions over a fourteen year period.
Peel was a huge fan of Harvey and championed some of her early recordings, when she was just an unknown artist. The album will come out as a joint venture between the BBC and Island Records and will be called 'PJ Harvey - The Peel Sessions - 1991 - 2004', and will be released two years after Peel's death on October 23.
Peel died of a heart attack while on holiday in Peru on October 25th, 2004. His radio show had helped kick off careers of literally hundreds of bands from all over the world, including New Order, Pulp, T-Rex, David Bowie, The Buzzcocks, Napalm Death and of course PJ Harvey.
