As predicted, Justin Timberlake's 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' is the fastest selling album of 2006 so far, falling just short of 700,000 units in the first week.
The album managed to sell 684,400 copies to debut at number one this week on the Billboard chart. The US debut follows hot behind number one debuts in Australia, Ireland, UK, Canada and Singapore earlier this week.
In addition, digital sales of the album were 66,698 units, breaking the record for one week digital sales.
'FutureSex/LoveSounds' beat his processor 'Justified' by nearly a quarter of a million sales, a healthy sign in an unhealthy industry.
Number two debut this week will go to John Mayer. 'Continuum' did well with sales of 317,000 but did less than half of the JT figure.
The other newcomer on the US chart this week is Bob Seger who debuted at number 4 with 'Face The Promise', his first new album in 12 years.
