Music legend Carlos Santana has been honored in his hometown of Autlan, Mexico for funding a new health clinic and community centre for his town.
Santana and wife Deborah went back home on September 8 to the town in the western foothills of the Sierra Madres.Carlos and Deborah were there for the inauguration of the project and first public viewing of the building known as Centro Comunitario Tiopa Tlanexti (Santuario de Luz) which means Sanctuary of Light.
The Santana's addressed the crowd with the Mayor of Autlan, Presidente Municipal Carlos Meillon Johnston.
The event took place at the entertainment centre known as Plaza Carlos Santana which is adjacent to Avenue Carlos Santana, which was named after the guitarist when he received the keys to the city in 2001.
This week, Carlos and Deborah co-chaired the US Celebration of Archbishop Desmond Tutu's 75th birthday in Beverly Hills, California with Denzel Washington and Samuel Jackson.
When he finishes his current tour, he and Deborah will head to South Africa for more festivities for the Archbishop.
