Cliff Richard wants a world record with his new record. He wants to be the first artist to have a number one hit on the 50s, 60s, 70s 80s 90s and 00s.
Cliff is about to release `Thank You For A Lifetime` for his 50th anniversary in the biz.He had his first number one song in England in 1958 with `Move It`, then `Travellin` Light`.
In the 60s, Cliff`s British number ones were `Please Don`t Tease`, `I Love You`, `The Young Ones`, `The Next Time/Bachelor Boy`, `Summer Holiday`, `The Minute You`re Gone` and `Congratulations`.
In the 70s, he topped the chart with `We Don`t Talk Anymore`.
The 80s brought back `Living Doll` to number one with thanks to the Young Ones. His other chart topper was `Mistletoe and Wine`.
In the 90s, Cliff did it two more times with `Saviour`s Day` and `Millennium Prayer`.
In the UK, he has spent a total of 1,983 weeks on the chart and is second only to Elvis Presley who has had 2,574 weeks on the chart. He is also more than 200 weeks in front on number 3, Queen and is ahead of The Beatles, Madonna and Elton John.
If he doesn`t make number one, then his previous record is still in tact. Cliff Richard is the only act to have topped the British charts every decade in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
