Madonna's controversial 'Confessions' tour has set the record for being the all-time highest-grossing tour by a female artist.
Madonna plays her 60th and final show in Tokyo on Thursday evening, having played in front of almost 1.2 million fans and grossing $US197.3 million. This tops the record previously held by Cher, who grossed $US192.5 million from 273 shows.It would seem that Madonna's infamous crucifixion act has only fuelled interest in the pop superstar. Future worldwide tours take note - condemnation from church and state is good publicity.
