New Year's Eve camping festival Pyramid Rock announces a formidable initial line-up of Australian (and a couple of international) artists.
Within three years the Pyramid Rock Festival on Victoria's Phillip Island has amassed quite a following by seeking out some of Australia's biggest acts. The first 2006 announcement is no exception. They have managed to snare pomp-rock titans Silverchair, who are on the verge of releasing album number five (which is reportedly titled 'Album Number 5'). It will be their second show back after a long hiatus, following up a slot at this year's Homebake in Sydney. They'll be joined by well-loved rockabilly champs and recent platinum-sellers The Living End.
Epic pop comes from New Zealand trio Evermore, Sydney's Faker and Perth sensations End Of Fashion. There's a list of surfy roots rockers from Xavier Rudd and The Beautiful Girls to Ash Grunwald and Bomba, whose performances are sure to complement the beach atmosphere.
The classy Australian line-up (currently rounded out by Lior, Karnivool and Mia Dyson) will be augmented by US hip-hop jokers Ugly Duckling as well as live sets from UK floor-fillers The Freestylers and Scottish electro-pop DJ Mylo.
Tickets go on sale September 28.
