The Rolling Stones are heading for a new home at Universal Music.
The band controls its catalogue from 1970`s `Sticky Fingers` and onward and by moving that part of the catalogue to Universal will put their complete works all under one roof. The early Stones from the 60s through to the `Let It Bleed` album was recorded for Decca Records, which is distributed through Universal.
The band`s most recent release, the `Shine A Light` soundtrack, came out through Universal in a 0ne-off deal. Now Universal has the rest.
“Universal are forward thinking, creative and hands-on music people,” the band said in a statement. “We really look forward to working with them.”
Universal`s plan is bring the Stones into the digital age by exploiting the catalogue for downloads.
The Stones head to Universal after more than a decade with EMI/Virgin.
The catalogue has been at Sony and Warner prior to that making The Rolling Stones one of the few acts that has been with every major at some stage.
