Thank God Neil Young has rethought the Archive Blu-Ray release strategy. Recently Young announced that his long-awaited archive series would only be available in Blu-Ray.
It will now also be released on CD and DVD.The Blu-Ray release is a brilliant idea but to limit the release to only the Blu-Ray technology would have meant a large slice of Young`s fan base would not be able to access the material.
The Blu-Ray release will become the premium version of the collection. As time moves forward, with Blu-Ray technology linked to the Internet, Young would be able to add to the collection.
However, the tunnel-visioned concept would have alienated a large chunk of his technology agnostic fan base.
The first part of the series will be a 10-disc collection of performances from 1963-1972.
Meanwhile, the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young movie `D??jà vu` will be screened during the Melbourne Film Festival.
The soundtrack album `Crosby, Still, Nash & Young Live` will be released through Warner Music.
The movie will be released in cinemas in the United States on July 27. It was filmed during the 2006 CSNY Freedom of Speech tour.
