Rock Band 2, the archrival of Guitar Hero, was launched at The Orpheum in Los Angeles this week with special guests The Who playing a full two-hour set.
Playing for gamers and winning them over may take a bit of time for the veteran rockers. According to friends at the show, the best reaction came from their hit `Who Are You` because most people in the room recognised it as the theme from CSI.With thanks to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, kids are discovering classic rock and it is quickly becoming their new music. The Who know that. That`s why they licensed their music to the game. "We`re too old to get on the radio," Roger said. "Thank fuck for you lot, thank fuck there is still a place to hear real music."
While the gamers didn`t really know who The Who were, lead singer Roger Daltrey was confused between Rock Band and rival Guitar Hero.
The Who are about to get active again to the point, referring to Aerosmith`s forthcoming release with rival company at one point in the show.
Pete mocked the new medium saying at one point that becoming a great guitarist really depends on the colour of your guitar.
The Who`s private show for the Rock Band 2 launch was indeed the hottest ticket in LA this week, and the tickets were not for sale.
