New Zealand rapper Scribe has teamed up with Wyclef Jean for a remix of the Wycelf track ‘Fast Car’.
The pair met at the MTV Awards in Sydney in April but Wyclef was familiar with Scribe’s work. "I have to be a fan," he says, "It has to be challenging. The worst thing you can tell me is it can't be done. When I'm in the studio, what I'm most interested in is creating music that truly moves people wherever they may be in the world. By collaborating with my man Scribe from New Zealand, we created a vibe on this track that can truly cross boundaries.""It was a great honour to have the opportunity to work with Wyclef,” explains Scribe. “He has been an inspiration to me since I was a teenager and quite possibly I wouldn’t be MC’ing today without his musical influence. I was the biggest Fugees fan and never dreamed I’d meet him, let alone be asked to record with him."
The original version of ‘Fast Car’ is on Wyclef’s ‘The Carnival II’. The track features Paul Simon.
