High profile US indie label Matador Records signs Melbourne art-rockers Love Of Diagrams.
The label has signed two new bands to its ever-expanding roster: Chicago's Ponys and, seemingly out of the blue, Melbourne's Love Of Diagrams. Matador Records has an impeccable indie repertoire, as it was once home to legendary indie rock acts like Interpol, Modest Mouse, Liz Phair, Pavement and currently home to Belle & Sebastian, Cat Power, Mogwai, The New Pornographers and Yo La Tengo. The mostly instrumental Love Of Diagrams have announced the release of a self-titled EP on September 18. It's features two tracks from their forthcoming 2007 album as well as outtakes, live tracks and a cover of a Pylon's 'Cool'. The album was recorded with Bob Weston (Archers Of Loaf, Polvo) in Chicago during an overseas trip in late 2005. During the jaunt they played SXSW in Austin, as well as shows in London and New York.
The plan is for Matador to re-released the trio's new self-titled EP as a precursor to the album, which is tentatively slated for March 2007.
