Artist manager Roger Davies will receive this year's Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Service To Music at the 2008 APRA Awards.
From his humble beginnings as the manager of Sherbet in 1972 in Sydney, Davies went on to become the businessman behind Tina Turner, Cher, Janet Jackson, Sade, James Reyne, Tony Joe White and Olivia Newton-John.Today, he is the manager of Pink and Joe Cocker.
In a statement, APRA|AMCOS CEO, Brett Cottle, said: "Roger Davies' gift to the artists he represents is his incomparable drive, passion and determined belief in their talent. That's an unbeatable combination that has brought great artists to the public's attention. It's a pleasure to recognize his contribution to the cause of music creators."
"I am very honoured to receive this prestigious award and to be recognised before my peers by the APRA Board of Writer and Publisher Directors," said Roger Davies.
Previous recipients of the award include Michael Chugg, Michael McMartin, Bill Armstrong, Don Burrows, Michael Gudinski, Charles Fischer and Slim Dusty.
The 2008 APRA Music Awards will be held on Monday June 16 in Sydney.
