Will Aussie soul man Guy Sebastian have a chance to sing 'Soul Man' for The Pope? Will Paulini get to sing 'Angel Eyes' for the Pontiff? Not likely.
Sebastian, and a cast of Aussie singers will be given the pulpit to preach their tunes at World Youth Day in Sydney next month. The songs chosen for the Pope will hardly have the man in white swinging down the aisle like James Brown in the Blues Brothers movie.
Sebastian will sing 'Receive The Power', a song he wrote with Gary Pinto a year ago for the occasion. The song is the official anthem for World Youth Day. Guy and Paulini debuted the song a year ago at an event in Darling Harbour.
'Receive The Power' was recorded by Sebastian and Paulini and has infiltrated hymnbooks across the country in the last 12 months.
World Youth Day is a global gathering to take place Sydney from July 15-20.
