Kaiser Chief's front man Ricky Wilson has taken the fashionable (and usually very effective) slam Oasis to get in the papers route by accusing them of losing touch.
Speaking to The Sun, Wilson said "Oasis have disappeared up their own arse. They think they are Led Zeppelin. They're not. Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor."Their mission to succeed Oasis will continue on course with the Chief's next album, which they are currently recording. In the same interview, he said "Our new album is shaping up. I reckon it's our best stuff yet. I played it to our manager the other day, who has known us for over ten years, and a smile just spread across his face as soon as he heard it. He reckons that it's the best material we have come up with.
"Mark Ronson is producing the album. He turned down a lot of people to work with us , a lot of big names, who I won't mention. When he does that to work with us, we must be doing something well."
The band are known for their knee-jerk reactions to pop and rock superstars. Bassist Simon Rix last year labelled Pink as "crap" and "idiotic".
Paul McCartney, however, is safe, with Simon Rix telling the BBC "I think that the influence of The Beatles, the impact that they had on everything at the time, not just music, you know your shoes and clothes and your hair and moustaches, everything, furniture - if The Beatles had never happened then we'd be living in a parallel universe."
I wonder who has been more influential in the last 20 years, Oasis or Kaiser Chiefs?
