As expected, Madonna's 'Hard Candy' has debuted at number 1 in the US. The album sold around 290,000 units.
After debuts at number one in Europe and Australia earlier this week, the scorecard pretty much makes 'Hard Candy' the most purchased album on the planet this week.'Hard Candy' debuted in Australia with 14,585 units sold last week. That was a decent figured considering the downturn in the industry since her last album 'Confessions on the Dance Floor' debuted at one with sales of around 19,000.
In the USA, the top 10 was active with debuts albums from The Roots, Def Leppard, Portishead and Tom Petty's Mudcrutch.
So what's looking good for next week? Neil Diamond's 'Home After Dark' is on track to be next weeks number one album.
'Home After Dark' was produced by Rick Rubin of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer and Johnny Cash fame.
Veteran Diamond released his debut album 'The Feel of Neil Diamond' 42 years ago.
