Cult hero Lou Reed plans to revive his 1975 feedback noise double album 'Metal Machine Music'.
Reed has recently been party to many reissues of his solo work, most recently RCA/Legacy putting out a deluxe reissue of his acclaimed 1976 album 'Coney Island Baby'. But while Reed revisits his older work, one album that no one would ever consider worthy was his 1975 double album of guitar feedback in varying speeds 'Metal Machine Music'.Although the album was actually reissued by an English label in 1991, when it was first released many fans returned the album thinking their copy was defective. Now Pitchfork Media reports that the ever adventurous Reed will collaborate with "avant-garde German music collective" Zeitkratzer to attempt "audacious, clangourous realizations" of the, uh, songs for a 2007 CD/DVD.
Also, in December, Lou Reed, Antony of Antony and the Johnsons and other collaborators will reportedly perform a "theatrically realized version" of his 1973 album 'Berlin' in New York. Before then Reed will play three shows across the US, in Colorado, New York and New Mexico.
