The Beatles have continued their long history of lawsuits by suing EMI and Capitol Records for $US25million in damages.
Surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, alongside the families of the late George Harrison and John Lennon allege the label falsely reported stock as damaged or faulty, but decided to sell it anyway. They also claim promotional records were sold in stores. Promotional records are given to media for review, and royalties are not paid to the artist from these, so the artist would not have received payment for records sold.
The defendants filed a motion to have the case thrown out of court, but they were rejected.
