Richard Booker, the half brother of Bob Marley, has paid tribute to their mother Cedella Booker, who passed away this week.
In a statement, Richard said, "I can't put into words the extraordinary bond between mother and son that cannot be broken, my mother was a rare woman that was loved by everyone she met and I know that she is in the hands of Jah, and will never be forgotten here on earth."Bob named his eldest daughter after his mother. Cedella Marley said today, "Since a young child, my grandmother showed me the meaning of love, life and laughter; she embodied them everyday, all the time. I will miss her and keep the gifts she has given me close to my heart forever."
Cedella Booker died in Miami at the age of 81. She was a great supporter of her son's work. She wrote the book 'Bob Marley, My Son' as a celebration of his life.
Bob died in 1981.
Cedella is survived by her son Richard, Bob's wife Rita, Sharien Fogel Booker, her daughter Pearl and 14 grand children and 49 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
