Metallica will be doing an instore to mark the very first Record Store Day.
Fans in San Francisco will be able to meet the band and get stuff signed at Rasputin Music, Mountain View near San Francisco on April 19.It has been more than a decade since Metallica has sat down behind the doors of a music store for an instore appearance.
Record Store Day happens to coincide with the vinyl reissues of their first two albums 'Kell 'Em All' and 'Ride The Lightning'.
Record Store Day will be celebrated across the USA, as well as parts of Canada, England and Ireland on April 19th.
It will give music fans the chance to get back into the stores to discover music and hear some great live acts.
Music stores have a lot to offer the music fan. Bruce Springsteen said "I buy CDs all the time. I'll go into a record store and just buy $500 worth of CDs. I will! I am singlehandedly supporting what's left of the record business. I hate to see record stores disappear, and I'm old-school in that I think you should pay for your music. But what my kids do is download a lot of things, pay for them, and then if they love something, they'll get the CD. That may be the future."
Shelby Lynne has a much more direct approach to the concept. "You can't roll a joint on an iPod - buy vinyl!", she says.
