The second season of Courteney Cox's tabloid drama 'Dirt' is telling a few home truths in its second season.
Cox, who is executive producer of the show and also stars in the lead role of publisher Lucy Spiller, is using her TV podium to tell a new side to the Britney / K-Fed story. While the show is fictitious (that just means the characters are composites) , Cox is going close to the real-life drama of Britney, as we know it, to paint a sympathetic view of the pop-star and portray a possible scenario of how she got in such a mess.
In episode 5 of season 2, Sharlee, the Britney-like character, finds out that her husband (who has a remarkable likeness to K-Fed) plotted with his ex-wife to divorce then marry Sharlee for her money.
Sharlee finds out the news from Don, a paparazzi that befriends her, and goes into melt-down, and shaves off her hair. Sound familiar?
Season 2 of Dirt has so far had storylines about a heiress popstar who is sent to jail for a driving offence but buys her way out of prison, and a former major TV star who is filmed drunk and eating off the floor.
But of course, as we know, nothing like that would ever happen in real-life (cough).
Dirt screens Sunday night at 10pm E/P on FX.
