SXSW isn't about big names. It is about wildcards. One of those wildcards was the low-key introduction of Carbon/Silicon, featuring two punk legends Mick Jones of The Clash and Tony James from Generation X.
Carbon/Silicon were one of the hardest working bands in Austin last week. They played pubs, parties, a TV show, a keynote interview and instore and Jones even found time on top of that to jump up on stage with Alabama 3.At his keynote, the two punks (who look more like a couple of Wall Street bankers these days), said they really have no expectations of success with Carbon/Silicon, they are doing it for fun. "If the worst happens, it's to be expected, and if something good happens, it's a bonus. The future is unwritten," Jones said. "If I didn't have a penny, I'd still do it".
Carbon/Silicon played for DirecTV on Saturday night for a show on Saturday night.
The band's Western Front album is available as a free download from their official website.
