U2's debut album 'Boy' will be re-released in May.
'Boy' will continue the series of U2 reissues which started last year with the 25th anniversary edition of 'The Joshua Tree'.'Boy' was produced by Steve Lillywhite although originally Martin Hannett was meant for the chore. Hannett was the producer of Joy Division and produced U2's first single '11 O'Clock Tick Tock'. However, just before recording was due to commence, Ian Curtis died and Hannett was too upset to continue.
While it failed to go on to have any real commercial success in its day, it did spawn a minor hit with 'I Will Follow'. The song still gets a run in U2 setlists to this day.
Incidentally, the boy on the cover of 'Boy' is Peter Rowen. He was the little brother of one of Bono's friend. Rowen is now a successful Irish photographer.
