Chaz Jankel from The Blockheads is working on new material for Robbie Williams.
Jankel, the keyboard player and guitarist for Ian Dury and the Blockheads, is in Los Angeles, writing and recording demos for Williams' next album. The new Robbie Williams album needs to be a return to fame after the ego-driven pop star lost a chunk of his fan-base with his club-orientated last album 'Rudebox'.
Jankel was a songwriting force with Ian Dury. He co-wrote 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' and 'Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3'.
Ian Dury & The Blockheads formed during the punk/new wave period of the late 70s.
Dury contracted polio at age 7 which left him disabled. He used his disability as a part of his act and in 1981 had an unlikely hit with the autobiographical 'Spasticus Autisticus'.
Dury died on March 27, 2000.
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of The Blockheads. A new compilation album is expected to be released later this year.
