Kinks founder Ray Davies has put forward the possibility of a Kinks reunion in 2008.
Davies resurrected his interest in the band after his fellow band member and brother Dave had a stroke in 2004. Dave has been slowly recovering ever since but may be well enough to do some shows again. The Kinks last played in public in 1996, but the original line-up was together in 2005 when they were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.
The original line-up of the Kinks included the Davies brothers, Mick Avory on drums and Pete Quaife on bass. Avory appeared on stage with Davies in May at the Royal Albert Hall. That original Kinks finished with the hits 'Lola' and 'Apeman' in 1970.
The Davies brothers then continued to tour under the name with a revolving set of musicians until finally breaking up in 1996.
The last studio album from The Kinks was 1993's 'Phobia'. The last album was the live record 'To The Bone' from 1996.
If the band reforms in 2008, Davies says it will be with new music as well.
