The position of 2007 Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci on the Australian chart this week has not improved despite a massive publicity campaign.
Gauci's 'Here Am I' sold another 7,303 units last week. It is the lowest sales figure for any Idol winner.Last week, 'Here I Am' became the first Idol record to not debut at number one, after selling 7,463.
The song has sold 14,766 units in total over two weeks. Gold in Australia is for 35,000 sales.
While many an independent act would be happy to sell 14,000 units, for an Idol with a marketing campaign reaching millions, this is a disaster.
Last year's winner Damien Leith has also delivered a still-born release in 2007. His 'Where We Land' album is at 41 this week on unit sales of 2,870.
