The city of Brighton on the south coast of England has become the first in the country to ban songs that could incite hatred against minorities.
Clubs in the city, which has a large gay population, could risk losing their license if they play songs with homophobic lyrics.The ban extends to record stores selling the music, although the city cannot legally enforce it, rather just discourage the music's sale.
Reggae star Buju Banton's Brighton concert was cancelled last year in connection with his song 'Boom Bye Bye' which features anti-gay lyrics.
