U2's The Edge and Bono made a surprise appearance at London's Union Chapel n Friday night (November 23rd).
The U2 duo performed a number of songs for the Mencap Little Noise Sessions, while bandmate Adam Clayton watched from the crowd.The audience had gathered for a night of new music from We Are Scientists and Billy Clyro and the Courteeners.
Radio DJ Jo Whiley introduced the pair by telling the crowd that they were about to hear a guitarist who "had not been playing that long and might make some mistakes".
Bono and The Edge opened with Zooropa's 'Stay' and also performed 'Desire', 'Angel of Harlem' and the previously unreleased 'Wave of Sorrow'.
'Wave of Sorrow' is a bonus track featured on the 20th anniversary edition of 'The Joshua Tree'. Bono wrote the song in 1985 after visiting Ethiopia.
The revised 'The Joshua Tree' is in stores this week.
