Scantily clad Colombian singer Shakira's hips don't lie, rather present an in-your-face truth that you can't ignore, but if you're an Afghani government official, you can certainly try to hide the truth from your citizens.
When Afghani TV network Tolo broadcast a live concert of Shakira's across the country, complete with a pixelated chest, they came under fire.Network owner Saad Mohseni said the concert was "not that provocative.
"The government is looking for an excuse to have a go at us. When we give air time to the Taliban we are 'talking to terrorists'; when we air people criticizing the government, we are told we are 'opposing peace and reconciliation'."
Media freedom in Afghanistan still has a long way to go. Earlier this year the government stormed the station's headquarters and arrested two journalists who broadcast Prosecutor General Abdul Jabar Sabet's anti-government rants.
