The Kurt Cobain biography 'Heavier Than Heaven' will be turned into a film.
Universal Pictures have acquired the rights to Charles Cross' biography and have asked screenwriter David Benioff to turn it into a script. Benioff wrote the screenplays for the forthcoming film versions of 'The Kite Runner' and a new X-Men spin-off 'Wolverine'.Cobain's widow Courtney Love is set to Executive Produce with her lawyer and occasional actor Howard Weitzman. 'Higher Than Heaven' was based on hundreds of interviews and access to Cobain's private journals, and paints Love in a positive light, yet Cobain's mother and Dave Grohl were not involved.
It is not known whether Nirvana's music will appear in the film, although Love holds the majority of the band's publishing rights, twenty-five percent of which she sold to Primary Wave Music Publishing last year.
The film is so-far untitled.
