They've finally given in - Led Zeppelin have announced that their music will be available in the digital format.
The band will begin their digital foray via a deal with telecommunications giant Verizon, who will this week offer Zeppelin ringtones to mobile customers. Tunes from the band's eight studio albums will be made available from iTunes and other digital music retailers from November 13."The great thing about this band, unlike almost any other band that you could think of, is that every single day there is a new 13-year-old kid who's just starting to get into music", said David Dorn, senior vice president of e-commerce at Rhino Entertainment, which is behind the marketing the band's catalogue. "That's a customer that's coming along for the future."
Unsurprisingly, the move coincides with the current fervour surrounding the rock legends. In addition to the one-off reunion show in London in November, the band release their latest compilation CD 'Mothership' on November 12 (November 13 in the US).
