UB40, The Wailers, Maxi Priest, Arrested Development and Katchafire have been announced for the inaugural Raggamuffin tour of Australia.
Promoter Andrew McManus today announced Raggamuffin for February 2008."I've toured UB40 three times through Australia and New Zealand and they never cease to amaze me with just how good they are and how much their fans love them. That's where the idea of Raggamuffin came from. Reggae lovers rarely get a chance to see the music they love and that's really the driving force behind putting this event together. We hope we can do it annually."
Each show will run for about six hours.
UB40 have had 51 hit singles in the UK. They rank number two behind Status Quo for that honour.
The Wailers are the original band behind the music of Bob Marley.
We first heard of Maxi Priest with his hit song 'Close To You' from 1990. The Jamaican born artist also had a later hit with a cover of Cat Stevens 'Wild World'.
Arrested Development proved popular in Australia on their last tour with INXS. They've sold more than five million albums worldwide off the back of hits such as 'Tennessee', 'Mr Wendal' and 'Everyday People'.
Katchafire join the posse from Hamilton, New Zealand.
Tickets go on sale on October 24.
