Legendary UK heavy music magazine Kerrang finds chart-topping acts in the nominations for their annual awards.
Often the domain of metal, hardcore, punk and rock bands predominantly known within their individual scenes, it looks like the mainstream has caught up with Kerrang!'s audience. The most nominations went to bombastic prog-rockers Muse, who appear in the Best Live Band, Best Single, Best Album, Best Video, and Best British Band categories, although they missed out on a spot as Best Band On The Planet.Australian fuzz-rockers Wolfmother scored a slot in the Best International Newcomer category alongside Aiden, Panic! At The Disco, Angles And Airwaves, From First To Last, and The Academy Is...
Other chart-bothering bands nominated include Fall Out Boy for Best Single, Video, Album and Best Band On The Planet, as well as My Chemical Romance, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday, and Bullet For My Valentine scoring nominations across categories.
The most mainstream category was Best Video, where AFI, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day lined up alongside Muse and Fall Out Boy for the nod.
Punters can vote online for their favourites. The award ceremony kicks off in London on August 24.
