New Darfur benefit compilation will feature special cuts from Bloc Party, The Shins, The Cure and more.
US label Waxploitation is launching a series dubbed 'Causes', each album benefiting a separate humanitarian relief effort. The first will be merely titled 'Causes 1' and focuses on helping victims of the ongoing genocide in the Western Sudanese region of Darfur.In an effort to express the urgency of the situation in East Africa, 'Causes 1' will only be available for 90 days on iTunes from November 27. The album features live performances from Animal Collective, Bright Eyes and The Cure, rarities from Black Keys, Bloc Party, Cornelius, Death Cab For Cutie, The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Thievery Corporation, as well as remixes and covers from David Sylvain, The Shins, Spoon and Travis.
