Joy Division's back catalogue is about to be released with bonus live albums.
Coinciding with the launch of the movie 'Control', about the life (and death) of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, Warner Music's Rhino division will reissue the albums 'Unknown Pleasures' and 'Closer', as well as the compilation album 'Still'.The albums have been remastered and will be reissued as double albums with the second discs being live performances from the band.
Ian Curtis died in 1980 at the age of 23. He is the subject of a movie by Anton Corbjin, based on the book 'Touching From A Distance', written by Ian's widow Deborah.
Curtis's story was briefly told previously in the movie 24 Hour Party People. That movie was about Factory Records founder Tony Wilson, who signed the band.
Wilson died a few months ago from cancer.
