Andy Summers of The Police has talked, albeit briefly, about the prospect of a new album from the band.
His comments in Dublin indicate that the band are at least thinking about the prospect of following-up 1983's 'Synchronicity'. He said, "It's sort of like living with the elephant in the room. I would see it as a challenge, to make an absolutely brilliant pop album at this stage of our career, and that would be something quite remarkable."Though he might want someone other than Sting to pen the lyrics to any future releases, with the buzzed-one being named as the worst lyricist ever in November's issue of 'Blender' magazine.
The magazine noted his "mountainous pomposity (and) cloying spirituality" in awarding him the dubious honour, with Rush drummer Neal Peart coming in at number two with his "richly awful tapestries of fantasy and science". The top 5 was rounded out by Creed's Scott Stapp, Oasis' Noel Gallagher ("incapable of following a metaphor through a single line, let alone a whole verse") and Dan Fogelberg.
