Hot rapper Lil Wayne has been arrested in Idaho on drugs possession charges.
Lil Wayne performed at Boise's Qwest Arena on Friday night and was detained by Idaho police, accused of possessing a controlled substance. He had an outstanding warrant but police stood side of stage until he finished the show. He was brought to the Ada County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning and was required to remain in custody until a hearing on Monday.He was scheduled to perform on Saturday night and AP reported that the jail received incessant phone calls from furious fans. A deputy told AP, "Every other phone call that we've picked up has been about him - people who have tickets wanting to know where his concert will be, people calling to see if it's true that he's incarcerated."
Lil Wayne's planned online concert for October 7 didn't go ahead and there is uncertainty as to whether the acclaimed rapper can attend the BET Hip Hop Awards, where he is nominated in seven categories.
