The Australian Music Collective will return to SxSW in Austin, Texas for 2008 for another Aussie BBQ.
The Aussie BBQ has become one of the most prestigious parties for the SxSW Music Conference. This year, the 24 hour party people attending the conference were treated to a sausage sanger, a few beers and some great rock from Hoodoo Gurus, Airbourne, Beasts of Bourbon and You Am I.
The Aussie BBQ at SxSW will once again be held in Brush Square Park, across the road from the convention center.
Applications for showcases are now open at the SxSW site.
Australian agent for SxSW, Phil Tripp is currently conducting information evenings for people contemplating attending next year's event.
Last night, Phil along with The Age's Andrew Murfett, former Something for Kate manager Jonathan Williamson and Glenn and Mary, gave advice to the gathered flock at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne.
Tripp's 'roadtripp' will play Sydney on Monday night at the Manning Bar at the University of Sydney.
Speakers will be Gregg Donovan, manager of Airbourne, Grinspoon and Josh Pyke, travel expert Brad Thomas, Nick Pontikos of Longtime Listener and Jen Wilson from the Music Network.
Six months before SxSW 2008, 11 hotels for the music conference in Austin have sold out.
The closest hotel available to the conference center is the Sheraton Austin, 9 blocks away.
After record numbers flocked to Austin for SxSW this year, 2008 figures are expected to be even bigger. That means a decision now will most likely eliminate the issues of having to stay miles from the center for the last minute.
