Cartoon death metal act Dethklok will tour US colleges with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
Dethklok recently released an album, appropriately dubbed 'The Dethalbum'. Since it's rather difficult for animated characters to write and perform music, the songs on the album (which include 'Bloodrocuted', 'A Briefcase Full Of Guts' and 'Hatredcopter') were performed by stand-ins.Guitars, vocals and bass were provided by Brendon Small, co-creator of 'Metalocalypse', the Adult Swim cartoon comedy in which Dethklok are the main protagonists. Drums were performed by renowned extreme metal drummer Gene Hoglan, who has played for Dark Angel, Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad and on Devin Townsend's "solo" albums.
Both Small and Hogan are part of the live version of Dethklok, with Zappa co-conspirator Mike Keneally on guitar and Steve Vai collaborator Brian Beller on bass. There hasn't been any word on whether they'll be dressing up like the band, whether they'll play behind projections like Gorillaz, or whether the men alone are brutal enough to emulate "the world's greatest cultural force".
The tour begins on October 29 and covers 12 college campuses.
