Mario Cipollina - bassist for Huey Lewis and The News until 1994 - has pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin and methamphetamines.
Cipollina is being held in Marin County Jail until his next court appearance on August 21. Bail was refused, since his possession violated his probation from a previous felony of burglary and petty theft convictions.Police allegedly found small amounts of the drugs in his pockets during a random probation search of his home.
His arrest in 2004 was due to stealing over $5,000 worth of radio control cars from a store in San Anselmo.
Huey Lewis & The News had a number of hits in the 1980s, including 'Hip To Be Square' and 'The Power Of Love', which was used in the Back To The Future movies.
