Melbourne's twee chamber-pop club Architecture In Helsinki find their audience overseas.
The band's 'In Case We Die' album released last year might have been a touch premature, but the band aligned with kindred spirits for shows throughout Europe, the UK and the US in April and May culminating with Washington's Sasquatch Festival with Flaming Lips, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Death Cab For Cutie, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists, Beck and more. After the successes of that tour, our quirky indie kids have hooked up with Brooklyn purveyors of oddball carnival music Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and performance pop artist duo The Blow for a September/October US tour, according to Pitchfork Media.
The site also reports that Architecture in Helsinki will release a remix album to coincide with the tour. Called 'We Died: They Remixed', it will feature interpretations by Hot Chip, Mocky, Safety Scissors, Squeak E Clean, DJ Medhi, and more. It will only be available through the shows.
But never fear, cardigan-wearers, for the band have already started work on their third album, promising a 2007 release.
