Elan, Latin America's most successful independent artist, has been awarded the Diamond Record Award for sales of more than 1.5 million.
The San Diego based singer received the award in Lima Peru on September 10.Elan has always maintained her musical independence, and remained on her own label AbbyWho Records for the course of her career.
Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Elan moved to California at age 15.
The debut album 'Street Child', featuring a guest spot from G'n'R/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, was released in 2003.
The new album 'What Can Be Done At This Point' was released this year.
