At a Sydney Nine Inch Nails show, Trent Reznor urges his fans to steal his CDs.
Introducing 'The Day The World Went Away', Reznor reminded fans at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion of his astonishment at CD prices in Australia during his last visit. He had criticised the prices during that visit and noted that now "my record company all around the world hates me."Reznor didn't look like helping matters when he asked the crowd if there had been any drop in CD prices since that last visit. After a resounding chorus of "No", Reznor said "You know what that means? Steal it. Steal away. Steal, steal, steal some more. Give it to all your friends. Keep on stealing."
He continued, "One way or another, these motherfuckers will get it through their heads that they're ripping people off and that's not right." Unsurprisingly, he finished the matter-of-fact statement with "I probably didn't make any friends by saying that."
NIN's latest album 'Year Zero' sells at Virgin Megastore for US$17.99 (A$21.60) but is currently marked down to US$7.99 (A$9.59). It is being sold through Australia's Sanity chain for A$32.99.
