...and the winner for the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize is none other than The Klaxons.
The band took out the respected prize at a ceremony in London last night where on top of their impressive trophy, they also won an impressive 20,000 pound prize. This year, the psychedelic rock outfit beat Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys and Dizzee Rascall to pole position.
The prize takes into account nothing but the music on the disc and is open to any artist of any genre from the U.K. or Ireland.
The band have indicated they will donate the prize money to charity.
Previous winners have included Arctic Monkeys, Primal Scream, Antony and the Johnsons, and Franz Ferdinand.
The prize was founded in 1992.
Other prizes around the world that judge purely on artistic merit and not album sales include Australia's Australian Music Prize and the now defunct Shortlist Award from the US.
